Karen Merceda Armstrong

October 11, 1961 — July 7, 2009

"Karen's Journey from Earth to Heaven" In the fall of 1961, Christ entrusted His precious baby girl's handwork to the care Mr. Edward Murphy Armstrong and Mrs. Shirley Benekin Armstrong on October 11th in Jacksonville, Florida. This cute little bundle of joy was given the name of Karen Merceda Armstrong. Her educational experience began at the Duval County Public School. And continue with Karen's great desire to learn more about God's will and purpose for her life. Being different from the other children she never married nor had children. Possessing a great compassion for children she worked in the child daycare industry for years and continued her love for children by becoming a nanny, caring for other children as her very own. Karen was happily employed by Ed & Matilda Clements, Dr. David & Lisa Flesher and Curt & Frankie Anthony. Karen proudly announced her walk with Christ, "I appreciate the Lord and grateful that I am saved sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost, I love the Lord". Karen always boldly spoke of the goodness of God. Her singing was also a spiritual uplift to the saints at NJT. She was a very hard worker in many auxiliaries of the church. For years she served as Sunshine Band President and Choir Directress of the Angels of Jerusalem. Missionary Armstrong presently served as Sunday School Teacher of the Young Adult Class, President of the Angels of Jerusalem, and Anniversary Committee with the Thursday Night Cowboys and a member of the Bible Education Class, just naming a few. She loved to stay busy with the kingdom building of New Jerusalem Evangelist Temple COGIC. Karen became a licensed Missionary in the Oklahoma Southeast Jurisdictional of the Church of God in Christ. Her licensed was later transferred to the Evangelist Temple Churches of God in Christ under the leadership of Bishop Bobby L. Williams. Missionary Armstrong served willingly in the music department - both local and state, Sunday school and as an Honorable State Sunday School Representative in the Evangelist Temple Churches of God in Christ Oklahoma Dioceses. On Thursday, July 9, 2009 an angel wrapped our loved one in his arms and placed her back in the care of the Almighty God. II Timothy 4:7-8 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness. Which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing". Upon entering the gates Karen was reunited with her brother Mr. Clarence Edward Armstrong. She trust the angels of strength to support her parents, Edward and Shirley Armstrong of Jacksonville, FL; sisters: Cynthia Armstrong Collins (Michael), Oklahoma City, OK, Priscilla Armstrong Hall (Neil), Melinda Armstrong Broderick (Clarence) and Burnette Clark Armstrong Ford (Ancil) all of Jacksonville, FL; brothers: Larry Armstrong (Sandra), Jacksonville, FL and Edward Murphy Armstrong (Luseal), Riverdale, GA; Uncles: William Young, Donald Whitehead, Dewey Whitehead and Gary Whitehead, all of Jacksonville, FL; Aunts: Helen Benekin Bruce, Shirley Jones, Loretta Brazil, Joan Mallory (John), Victoria Gordon and Barbara Brown, all of Jacksonville, FL; Great-Aunt Sophia Cook of Jacksonville FL; 31 nieces and nephews and her Oklahoma extended family members: Mama Georgia King, Brother, Ronald King, devoted friend, Teresa Williams, God-children Michael Jackson, Richard Williams and Terriona James, and a host of cousins and friends.
