Geraldine Gonzalez

July 14, 1957 — June 13, 2009

Geraldine Coleman-Gonzalez was born July 14, 1957 in Chicago, IL to the late Herbert Coleman I and Minnie Lou Howard. She graduated with honors from Northwestern High School in Detroit, MI in 1975, where she was a star player for the girls' basketball team. In 1991, Geraldine relocated from Detroit to Escondido, CA where she met and married her devoted husband Mauricio. She later settled in Oklahoma City, OK where she continued to raise her seven children. Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, watching movies, attending her kids' and her grandkids' events, and playing B-I-N-G-O. She was adored by many because of her caring, giving, and jovial personality. She was extremely humorous, keeping the laughter flowing with her constant jokes. Geraldine departed this life in the early morning hours on Saturday, June 13, 2009. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her loving memory, her beloved husband, Mauricio Gonzalez I; two sons, Ronnell (Juli) Coleman and Mauricio Gonzalez II; five daughters, Nikki Coleman, Kia Coleman, Naki Coleman, Mikel Jefferson, and Maximina Gonzalez; one brother, Herbert Coleman II; two grandsons, DeVante Trotman and KéVon Smith; one granddaughter, Kiyana Smith; two God-daughters, Elyse Mattison and Kyieshia Ross; and six God-grandchildren, Elayne Vaughn, Edward Little II, Elontae Byrd, Etrinity Mabry, Erron Davis, and Ereion Sampson, one son-in-law Donyale Trotman, and a host of honorary sons and daughters, other relatives, and friends. Geraldine was a magnificent woman who led by example. She will be missed tremendously. We, the Coleman-Gonzalez family would like to thank each of you for sharing in the celebration of our loved one. We would especially like to thank the Royal Host church members and the Jackson family for their love and support. We also express our gratitude to all who have offered a shoulder, a prayer, and other expressions of love. Lastly, we thank First Lady Mary Crisp and Pastor Johnny Crisp for opening the doors of this lovely place of worship. May God bless you all.
