Mae Thelma Shannon

August 16, 1932 — May 18, 2009

Mae Thelma Kirk-Shannon was born August 16, 1932, to Zenobia Groner and Wesley Kirk, Sr., in Gene Autry, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by both parents, two daughters, Teresa and Janet, two brothers, Wesley Jr. and Charley Crooms. Mrs. Shannon grew up in Milo, Oklahoma where she received some of her education. She would later complete her high school education in Tatum, Oklahoma. She also attended Langston University. In the early 1960s she married Clement Shannon. In 1963 she and her family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico while there they joined and were elevated by God to the First Family of the Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Shannon returned to Oklahoma City in 1995 with her family. Once settled she joined Royal Host Christian Ministries where she loved helping people. Mae Thelma was a loving mother and grandmother, she was always there when needed. "Mom" as she was fondly known by all will be greatly missed. She leaves to cherish her memory forever seven children: Linda King of Seattle, WA, Henry Shannon (Kathy) of Oklahoma City, OK, Judy Davis of Queens, NY, Clement Shannon, Jr. (Marilyn), Kiawana Lampkin of Atlanta, GA, Steven Shannon (Vicki) of Oklahoma City, OK, Judy Shannon of Fayetteville, NC; 20 grandchildren: Monica, Clement, Monty, Von, Felisha, Lewis, Allen, Clement (Chu-Chu), Tamieka, Shara, Jefferey, Ellis, DeAndre, Shenieka, DeShawn, Kevin, Darius, Rae-Vonn, Latrell, and Telitha; 12 great-grandchildren: Shantel, Kiesha, Little Ellis, Omar, Alayah, Dasha, Joseph, Helena, Darius Jr., Celestia, Glemora, and Destiny; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
