Helen Ethel Booker

Helen Booker was born on February 14, 1915 to Samuel Alexander and Anna Reid-Roper in Bristow, OK. She received her schooling in Chandler, Oklahoma. Helen received Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. While living in Chandler she met and married the love of her life Oscar "M.D./I Booker on June 10, 1934. Helen was very active in church and community activities. She was an (ex Celsios) Chapter #21, OES member for 56 years and served in all capacities, but most recognized for her efficient record keeping as Secretary. Sister Booker served as Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, secretary, and choir director. She was a member of the Chandler Community Club #1 and the Sweet Home Community Club. She also sang with the Baptist Women's Group at the local nursing home. She was an active member of Lane Chapel CME for most of her life. She loved the Lord, served in her church whenever there was a need. Helen worked hard in her church and community. Sis. Booker went into the nursing home where she was loved by all the staff and anyone who met her. She never stopped singing and praising the Lord. On Wednesday, May 6,2009, Helen went home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by both parents, all eleven siblings, and husband Oscar "M.D./I Booker. She leaves to cherish her memory five sons: Walter of Chandler, OK, Lawrence, Phillip, Oliver (Deborah), all of Oklahoma City, OK, and Alexander of Houston, TX; one foster son, Luther Glover of Kansas City, MO; one adopted daughter, Glenda Garcia of Midwest City, OK; two foster daughters, Alma Bean and Sandra Marshall of Chandler, OK; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
