On the morning of November 14 of 2024, SGM (RET) Alfred Junior Davis entered the Gates of Heaven with his savior Jesus Christ the Lord. He was born on November 24, 1940 to Annie Mae Davis and Harrison Davis in Prattville, Alabama. He is proceeded in death by his parents, stepfather, and cousin who was like a brother Wilson Pickett “Mustang Sally”.
At an early age, SGM (RET) Alfred J. Davis accepted Jesus Christ into his life. In his early childhood he was baptized and attended Jericho Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama. He graduated from High School in Autagua County in Alabama. He also attended College.
SGM (RET) Alfred J. Davis married his High School sweetheart Sallie Mae Davis on December 24 of 1961. They were honorably married for 63 years. In this union, two (2) children were born Anna Lisa Driver and Alfrieda Adams-Davis.
SGM (RET) Alfred J. Davis entered the military in 1961. He served his Country proudly alongside his wife for 30 years and 3 months in the United States Army. He honorably retired as a Sergeant Major at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
SGM (RET) Alfred J. Davis was a proud member of New Zion Missionary Baptist Church. During his Christian Walk he honorably served as a Deacon, President of the Usher Board, and the President of the Brotherhood. He was also a
proud member of the Aid the Sick & Bury the Dead (AS & BD Society), the Prince Hall Affiliated Masonic Order, and a proud member of the first “100 Black Sergeant Majors”.
SGM (RET) Alfred J. Davis enjoyed singing, fishing, bowling, softball, and sightseeing. Some of his proudest moments were touring the world with his family and singing on and off the stage with his cousin Wilson Pickett “Mustang Sally”-The song inspired by SGM (RET) Davis in honor of his wife.
SGM (RET) Alfred J. Davis will truly be missed and leaves behind many people who will miss him deeply.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years Mrs. Sallie Mae Davis, his Daughters, Mrs. Anna Lisa Driver and her husband SFC (RET) Tommie Driver “Son” (Texas), Dr. Alfrieda Adams-Davis (North Carolina) ; his Sister, Mrs. Callie Mae Williams ; his Grandchildren, Aalyssia Driver-Harvey (Texas), Marquis Jackson “Son” (Oklahoma), Nichole Williams; Multiple Great Grandchildren, Aaliyah Driver (Texas), Ka’Niya Jackson (New York), Khalil Jackson (Oklahoma), Mayson Jackson (North Carolina); Nieces and Nephews and Extended Family Members, Alice Blair (Alabama), Angela Williams (Alabama), Geoffrey Boyd Sr. (Delaware), Gregory Boyd Sr (California), Jacqueline Pitts (Georgia), John Richards (South Carolina), Kenisha Williams (Alabama), Leon Williams (Alabama), Sandra Hughes (Texas), Sherese Williams (Alabama), Velma Richards (Alabama), Willie Richards (New York).
