Garvelle Douglas Waterford, 68. March 24, 1953 - July 30, 2021
Our beloved husband, brother and friend, a resident of Oklahoma City, passed away on July 30, 2021. A former member of Quayle United Methodist Church, he became a member of Tabitha Baptist Church, upon the union with his wife Betty. A proud US Navy veteran, Garvelle graduated Douglass High School and received his BS Degree from Oscar Rose Jr College. He also worked for Dayton Tires, Campbells Family Convenience Store and Sprint until retirement. An ardent reader, early childhood artist and jazz aficionado, Garvelle had an amazing love of motorcycles, and although he hadn’t rode in years he never gave up the hope of riding once again. Garvelle is the kindest person you could ever meet, a blessing for all who knew him, and his love for all life was amazing.
Garvelle is preceded by parents, Rev. G Douglas Waterford and Mrs. Hazel L. Waterford, niece Chane’ Waldron and brother-in-law Garvely Nunley.
Known by family and friends as the ‘Love Birds’, Garvelle is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Betty Waterford. In addition step-children Patricia & Fred Grays, “Little Sister’ Althea Waterford-Bentley and her husband Kim Bentley, Sr., and cousins, Sidonie and Lupe Olivarez, James Herd, and a host of nieces and nephews.
In the words of his loving wife, Garvelle was the “the Best Husband and the Sweetest Man I Know”. He will be always be cherished.
