Silvestre Haughton

Silvestre Haughton, Sr. was born September 23, 1942 to the late Cecilio Haughton and Gladys Mae McPherson (Haughton) in Colo'n, Panama. He was educated in Rainbow City School. He relocated to Brooklyn, New York where he met and married in 1970, the love of his life, Henrietta Brown Haughton. To this union was born a son, Silvestre Haughton, Jr., and a daughter, Felicia Haughton. 

Silvestre was employed by Jones Mattress Company and at one time by Brooklyn Furrier. In October 1974, Silvestre enlisted in the U.S. Army serving honorably for 22 years. He had the opportunity to serve in many different countries. During his enlistment he had the opportunity to tour Korea where he earned a black belt in Taekwondo and became a certified instructor. Silvestre was a jack-of-all trades and was gifted and talented to do anything from pottery, karate, to carpentry. After retiring from the Army, he was employed by Lowe's for 11 years and remodeled houses. He united with the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church and was a faithful member for 25 years as he helped to renovate the entire church. 

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years, Henrietta; son, Silvestre Jr. (Felisha) and daughter Felicia Haughton, Siblings; twin sister Elvira Haughton, sisters Selma Haughton, Yolanda Haughton, Elvia Haughton, Elizabeth Haughton, and sister-in-law Cynthia (Davis) Sanders; brothers, Cecilio (Carla) Haughton and Alberto (Karla) Haughton. Grandchildren, Charles, Raquell, Ronell, Sante'l, Se'mone, Jacob, Jeremiah, Malik and Nyesha. Great-grandchildren, Averiana, Cianna, George Jr., Ari, Ka'mani, Kendrick, Ka'miya, Josiah, and Triston and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

He is preceeded in death by his parents, two brothers; Carlos and Alberto; sisters, Elvelia and granddaughter Daija Jones.
