Steve D. Laster, a loving father, age 51, passed on September 17, 2019. Steve was born on March 28, 1968 in laurel, Mississippi to Sara Ann Laster (Jones) and Early B. McLaurin. Steve grew up in Bay Springs as the oldest of four. When he started HS he began playing football. He graduated from Bay Springs HS with a football scholarship, but he decided to join the army in 1986. In1991, he married Claudia Laster. Steve has 2 daughters, Lekisha and Jada. Steve served 23yrs, completing 3 tours (Iraq, Afghanistan, and Korea) and receiving numerous medals including the Bronze Star. Steve retired in 2011. Steve has one grandson Kylan King Dereel (pronounced Derelle) Morgan, who shares his middle name. Steve was a proud a proud father and very proud grandfather. He did everything in his power to provide for his family. Steve was a hard exterior, but a teddy bear once you get to know him. He was a very REAL person, and stayed true to those that stayed true to him. His infectious smile and laugh could put anyone in a good mood. He loved to go fishing, playing madden and red dead redemption, and "chillin". His favorite color was purple, the color was purple, the color of royalty. His favorite song was "when Doves Cry" by Prince. His favorite movie was " The Color Purple.'' His favorite author was Donald Goines. Dolomite was his favorite comedian. Steve was preceded in death by hos brother, Tyrone Jones and his father Early B. McLaurin. He is survived by two daughters, Lekisha and Jada Laster, his only grandson Kylan King Morgan. Mom Sara Ann and stepdad Jerry Jones, brothers D'Wight and Albert Jones, sisters Carlotta and Tish McLaurin, 2 nephews Dallan Jones and DeAndre McLaurin, and many more loved ones. His infectious smile and teddy bear like spirit will live on forever. Steves memorial service will be held on Friday September 27, 2019 at Howard-Harris Funeral Services in Lawton at 11:00am.
